Acceptable Use Policy

The Image to Layers acceptable use policy: prohibited content, how messages, images and layers are checked, how to report content, enforcement and appeals.

Last updated: 2026-10-09

Version 1.0 · Effective October 9, 2026

Image to Layers (“Image to Layers”, “we”, “us”) provides AI tools that split images into editable layers. This Acceptable Use Policy (“Policy”) applies to everything uploaded, written, created or stored through image2layers.org, and sets out our content standards, how we check content, how to report it and how we enforce these rules. By using Image to Layers you agree to this Policy, which forms part of our Terms of Service.

1. Scope

This Policy covers every kind of content on Image to Layers, whatever its format:

  • Messages — what you write to the Layer Agent assistant, including instructions for a split.
  • Uploaded images — the images you upload to split.
  • Generated layers — the layer files and PSDs the Service creates from your images.
  • Support messages — tickets and emails you send us, including attachments.

2. Prohibited content

Image to Layers is built for a general audience. You may not upload, request, create or share any of the following:

  1. Pornography / NSFW content — nudity, sexual or sexually suggestive imagery of any kind, including implied nudity and fetish content.
  2. Child-unsafe content (CSAM) — any sexual content involving minors and any content that sexualizes or endangers children.
  3. Non-consensual intimate imagery (NCII) — intimate, sexual or nude images of a real person shared or created without their consent, including AI-made “undressing” and sexual deepfakes.
  4. Violence / gore — graphic violence, blood and injuries, torture, mutilation, corpses, and content that glorifies or encourages violence, self-harm or suicide.
  5. Hate speech — hate symbols, extremist insignia and slogans, slurs, and content that attacks or demeans people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age or another protected trait.
  6. Deepfakes / impersonation — content that impersonates a real person, brand or organization, or uses a real person’s likeness to mislead people about where an image came from or whether it is real.
  7. Copyright / trademark infringement — images, characters, logos and other works you don’t have the rights to use.
  8. Illegal content — anything illegal where you live or where we operate, including content that promotes or facilitates terrorism or violent extremism.

2.1 Zero tolerance

The following lead to immediate account closure and may be reported to the authorities, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) where required by law:

  • Child sexual abuse material or any sexual content involving minors.
  • Non-consensual intimate imagery of real people, including sexual deepfakes.
  • Content that promotes or facilitates terrorism, violent extremism or mass violence.

2.2 Other prohibited conduct

  • Trying to get around our checks — for example with misspellings, coded words, cropping or “jailbreak” instructions.
  • Automated or bulk use of the Service, reselling access, or using the Service’s inputs or outputs to train, fine-tune or benchmark competing AI models.
  • Uploading images of people or property you aren’t allowed to share.

3. How we moderate

Every AI request passes through automated checks, in an order that stops a prohibited request as early as possible — before anything is generated or charged.

3.1 Automated checks

  • Message check, first — every message you send to Layer Agent is screened by an AI safety check against the categories in Section 2 before the assistant reads it. A flagged message is not processed: no image is checked, nothing is split and nothing is charged.
  • Image check, before splitting — every image is screened by an automated NSFW image classifier before it is split, both in the split tool and in Layer Agent. A flagged image is not split and no credits are used.
  • Output check, before delivery — every generated layer is screened by the same classifier before it is shown to you or saved. If any layer is flagged, all layers from that run are withheld and the credits for it are returned.
  • Fail closed — if a check can’t run, the request is stopped rather than let through, and nothing is charged.

The image checks look for sexual and explicit content. Other prohibited content in images, such as gore or hate symbols, is handled through reports and human review (Section 3.2).

3.2 Human review

  • Blocked requests are logged so we can review patterns and repeated attempts.
  • Every report is reviewed by a person before any action beyond the automatic steps is taken.
  • Uploads and layers are private to the account that created them; we don’t publish user content in any public gallery.

3.3 Severity levels

  • L1 — Critical (child safety, non-consensual intimate imagery, terrorism): account closed; reported where required.
  • L2 — High (sexual content, graphic violence, hate speech, deepfakes): blocked automatically or removed; account suspended.
  • L3 — Medium (copyright or trademark issues, attempts to get around our checks): blocked or removed; warning.
  • L4 — Low (borderline content reported by users): reviewed; removed if it breaks this Policy.

4. Reporting

If you come across content made with Image to Layers that breaks this Policy — for example an image shared elsewhere, anything involving child safety, or an image that infringes your rights — please report it:

  • Email — send support@image2layers.org the image or a link to it and a short description of the problem.
  • Support ticket — signed-in users can also open a ticket with the support button in Settings.

We keep the identity of people who report confidential, review every report on its merits, and act on reports that are deliberately false or abusive.

5. Response times

  • L1 — Critical: first response and action within 24 hours.
  • L2 — High: first response within 2 business days, resolution within 5 business days.
  • L3 / L4: first response within 5 business days, resolution within 10 business days.

6. Enforcement

Depending on how serious a violation is and whether it is repeated, we may:

  1. Block the request — the message, image or result is rejected and no credits are used.
  2. Remove content — delete uploads and layer files from the account.
  3. Suspend the account — temporarily or permanently; for serious violations remaining credits are forfeited, as set out in Section 13 of our Terms of Service.
  4. Report to authorities — for zero-tolerance violations, and cooperate with lawful investigations.

7. Appeals

If you think we got it wrong, email support@image2layers.org within 30 days of the decision with your account email and what happened. We’ll review the decision again, including any new information you send, within 10 business days and reply with the outcome.

8. Changes to this Policy

We update this Policy as our tools and the law change. We’ll post the new version here with a new date and announce material changes on the site at least 15 days before they take effect. Continuing to use Image to Layers after that means you accept the updated Policy.
